The dojo is opening soon. Here are the programs we're planning — no experience required to begin. Every champion in Kyokushin history started exactly where you are now: as a white belt walking through the door.
Fundamentals, fitness, and focus in a structured, age-appropriate format. Kids build coordination, confidence, and discipline through kihon, kata, pad work, and supervised light-contact drills.
The foundation course of Kyokushin: stances, strikes, blocks, and conditioning. Sparring is introduced gradually and scaled to your level — you control the pace of your progression.
Knockdown kumite, advanced kata and bunkai, tournament preparation, and the deeper technical curriculum of Kyokushin-kan — including the elements Kancho Royama restored to the art.
Class days, times, and the dojo location will be announced before opening. Evening classes on weekdays and a Saturday morning session are planned, with separate youth and adult training blocks.
Want the schedule the moment it's published? Join the interest list and we'll email you when registration opens. Karateka from other Kyokushin organizations relocating to Virginia are especially welcome to get in touch. Osu!
Wear: comfortable athletic clothing — a gi (dogi) is not required until you commit to training. Train barefoot; bring water.
The class: bow in, warm-up and conditioning, kihon (basics), then kata or partner drills depending on the night. Beginners are paired with senior students.
Contact: nobody spars full-contact on day one. Sparring is earned and introduced progressively, always under instructor supervision.
Kyokushin-kan students progress through kyu grades from white to brown belt, then into the dan (black belt) ranks. Each grading tests kihon, kata, conditioning, and kumite appropriate to the level.
Join the interest list and be part of the first generation to train at Kyokushin Kan Karate. Osu!
